ScottishPower urges kids to READuce their carbon footprint
ScottishPower has launched a new initiative to help children in Aberdeen to reduce their carbon footprint.
Along with Friends of the Earth Scotland, the company is urging local youngsters to favour reading over computer games as part of the challenge Read for the Future.
Alison McKean, Head of Environment at ScottishPower, said: "We're really proud of Read for the Future as it's a fun way for youngsters to help READuce their carbon footprint."
Coinciding with the launch of International Children's Book Day (ICBD) on April 2nd, the organisations are trying to get more people to ditch their computer games than ever before, after involving around 100 children since 2005.
The eight-week sponsored challenge, which raises money for Friends of the Earth's Green Homes project, begins at the start of the autumn term and continues until October 26th, the end of Energy Efficiency Week.
ICBD has been inspiring children to read since 1967 on April 2nd, which is the birthday of much-loved children's author Hans Christian Andersen.
